You may have addressed this before, but when you digitally paint, do you break up your paintings into many many many layers, or do you mainly actually paint on one layer, like actual painting?

Hello there! Generally I keep layers to a minimum. I’ll start with a background colour, a layer for the sketch, and then another layer to block in the basic colours. Then I usually have another layer for the main painting and a final one that I refine things on. I think the trick with this type of digital painting is to try to think of it as if you were painting traditionally and not get bogged down in the mechanics of Photoshop. I also find this way I end up with a more unified colour palette. It depends on how you like to work, really!

yawmin said: What program are you using for that?

An iPad app called Procreate, and a Wacom Bamboo capacitive stylus.

You should make the Heraldic Hermes a patch! I would buy one in an INSTANT!

Oh man, I wouldn’t know how to go about doing that. That said, I was considering designing a set of little buttons and selling them in packs. It really depends on whether enough people would be interested to justify the cost though.

Thank you, anon! Glad you like him!

How long did your animations take to make?

About 15 minutes? Not that I really knew what I was doing. I’ve started learning from animation books now so my next attempts won’t be as shoddy.

The hedgehog got away again, and it's all your fault! But as I'm such a good egg, I'll allow you a few moments to explain yourself. How, prrray tell, dare you foil the deliciously despicable and diabolical deeds of His Most Eminent Egginess, you... you... fabric?! Speak now, or I shall have my henchmen imprrrison you in the deep confines of my fortress, and thrrrow away the key!

Hey what software do you use to make 3D models? And how long has it taken for you to learn to do what you do? :)

Hey there! I use a free but powerful program called Blender. It didn’t actually take me long at all to learn (a few weeks on and off?) but the interface is quite complicated if you’re used to more intuitive programs. Most of what I learned was based on Youtube tutorials (there are some very good ones!) and trial and error. Making the mistakes yourself and having to fix them is the best way to learn! Good luck, if I can learn it anybody can!!
